BE PREPARED TO OVERFLOW

2 Corinthians 13:5 - Test yourselves {to see} if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test?

It is important that we are prepared in facing this year of overflow. If we are not prepared to overflow, it can result to something that we do not want. For example, overflow in finances unprepared can lead to greed; overflow in talents unprepared can lead to pride, overflow in your service unprepared can lead to burn-out, etc.

2 Corinthians 13:5 says, we should examine and test ourselves in our faith. Are we still holding, not a temporal faith, but the true saving faith of our Lord Jesus Christ? These first few days of the New Year, is my recommended time to reflect and examine ourselves. How??? By allowing the Holy Spirit, during our personal devotion time, to scrutinize us and to show us who we really are in the previous years. You will be surprised that this could be humiliating and uncomfortable. Maybe because He will reveal all the hypocrisy and self-centeredness. But then, if we ask and receive God’s forgiveness, that’s the time we can say, we are prepared and ready to overflow.

There will be hunger in God’s Word and thirst in God’s awesome presence. And when we satisfy our spirit with an overflowing God’s Word and God’s presence, this will then result an overflow in our faith as Romans 10:17 said, “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing the Word of God”. A commitment to overflow in the Word and in our Faith follows a year of overflow that we declare!
